Unholy Prayer

Mouthed in silence are

memories of spite,

crowds of hungry strangers

seething with delight,

huddled in their sanctum,

kneeling at the light.

Hand in calloused hand,

As the shadows flicker,

They are told to stand.

Says their master: “We were

Created in His plan,

Born in sin yet cleansed by His blood.

The unblemished, pure lamb,

Triune Godhead—perfect,

Sent into the world as man—

Feet nailed on the cross—

He was forced to stand.

“Heaving and heaving, He

Gasped and asked our father:

‘Why have you forsaken me?’

He gave up his spirit,

Dying for our folly,

Dying for the wicked;

Dying before Mary.

“Come now brothers, sisters,

To repent and seek His

Love, as we grow nearer

To the day of Judgment, for

We are chosen believers.”

Tears run down my face,

As I mumble and look

Up to heaven and pray:

“Lord, I ask for wisdom,

And I seek Your grace.”
